Redlands, a small village in Mid Devon, was known for its peaceful atmosphere, but that changed when a string of burglaries took place. The police were at a loss as to who was behind the spate of thefts and the villagers were becoming increasingly afraid. It wasn't until a young woman went missing that Control entered the picture - a secretive organisation rumoured to have capabilities beyond the police.
The villagers were sceptical at first, but Control's swift action in rescuing the missing woman won them over. The organisation's methods were unconventional, but effective. They took control of the situation and apprehended the culprit in record time. However, rumours started to spread about the true nature of Control, with some accusing them of being a vigilante group.
The police were also suspicious of Control's activities, but there was little they could do. Control seemed to have a hold over the village, with many of the residents willing to turn a blind eye to their methods. The burglaries stopped and the village returned to its peaceful ways, but the presence of Control continued to loom over Redlands.
It wasn't until a year later that the true purpose of Control was revealed. A journalist investigating the organisation uncovered a plot to control the entire village through fear and manipulation. They had been using the burglaries as a way to gain the villagers' trust, and then exploited this trust to expand their influence. The journalist's exposé led to the dismantling of Control and the arrest of its leaders, but the damage had already been done. Redlands would never be the same again.
