The Haunting of Purn Hill

When the dead refuse to be forgotten

They say that the name Purn Hill comes from the old English word 'pirne', meaning thorn bush. But the locals know that the hill is also named after a family that lived there many centuries ago. The Purns were a wealthy and influential family who owned most of the land in the area. But they were also known for their cruelty and arrogance, especially towards the peasants who worked on their farms.

Legend has it that the Purns were cursed by a gypsy woman who they had mistreated. According to the curse, the Purns would die on their land and their spirits would be forever trapped there. And so it came to pass, that every member of the Purn family died a violent death in mysterious circumstances. Today, locals avoid the hill after dark, fearful of the vengeful ghosts that are said to haunt the place.

But the most disturbing aspect of Purn Hill is its cemetery. Unlike most cemeteries, the graves here are unmarked and the bodies are said to have been buried in shallow pits. Some believe that the Purns used the cemetery to bury their victims or to dispose of those who they wanted to forget. Others say that the cemetery was built on ancient pagan burial grounds and that the spirits of the dead still linger there.

Visitors to Purn Hill have reported bizarre occurrences, such as hearing strange noises, feeling cold spots, and sensing an invisible presence. Some have even claimed to have seen the apparitions of the Purn family, dressed in their old-fashioned clothes and staring at them with hollow eyes. But the most disturbing phenomenon is the feeling of being watched, as though someone is following you from behind the thorn bushes that cover the hill.

Despite the warnings, there are those who dare to come to Purn Hill, seeking the thrill of encountering the supernatural. But they should be careful what they wish for. For once you enter the realm of the dead, there is no telling what horrors you may unleash.
