The Legend of the Heifer in Roxby

A mystifying tale of a cursed bovine

Once upon a time, in the serene village of Roxby, there lived a peculiar heifer that seemed to be cursed. The villagers, who had named her 'Hazel', believed that she had been born with the devil's mark and was responsible for all the misfortunes that had befallen the village in recent times.

Hazel was a sight to behold with her mottled black and white coat, fiery red eyes, and a strange crescent-shaped marking on her forehead. The villagers avoided her like the plague, believing that her very presence would bring them bad luck.

However, one day, a young farmer decided to buy Hazel from her owner, hoping to break the curse and turn around his fortunes. He took her to his farm and treated her with kindness and care, hoping to win her trust.

To everyone's surprise, in a few months, Hazel transformed into a gentle beast, who gave more milk than any other cow in the area. The farmer's fortunes changed, and the village prospered once again.

And so, the heifer in Roxby became known as a symbol of hope and resilience, reminding the villagers that sometimes all it takes is a little kindness to break a curse and turn things around.
